It is with very heavy hearts that the Uniondale Chamber of Commerce shares the sad news of the passing of Gregory Maney, PhD on September 2, 2017.
As many of you may or may not know, Greg was a much beloved mainstay of the Uniondale community, Co-facilitator of the Greater Uniondale Area Action Coalition, Director of the Center for Civic Engagement and sociology professor at Hofstra University. He was instrumental in spearheading the successful campaign against the formation of "East Garden City" and rallied our community to protect its economic and commercial assets north of Hempstead Turnpike.
He inspired our current president to resurrect and restructure the Chamber of Commerce to make it into what it is today as one of the most formidable organization to watch in Nassau County. And it is without question that we would not be here today without his inspirational leadership and unwavering faith.
The Uniondale Chamber of Commerce thanks his family for blessing us with his talent and presence. He will be remembered always for his tenacious spirit, his exceptional mind, his relentless heart, and his generous soul.
Our entire Uniondale business and resident community mourns the loss of our colleague, our neighbor, and our friend. He will never be forgotten and we will carry own with our mission with ever greater determination and intention... in his name.
