Uniondale, New York – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) award results are finalized.

Margo K. Cargill, CEO of Titanium Linx Consulting, Inc. and President of the Uniondale Chamber of Commerce has been announced as the SBA award recipient of the 2017 Minority Small Business Champion of the Year.

Businesses and organizations from across the New York SBA District – the five boroughs of the New York City, Long Island, and seven downstate counties of the Mid and Lower Hudson submitted applications to the National Small Business Week Awards. The Uniondale Chamber of Commerce nominee, Margo K. Cargill, was chosen out of hundreds of small business advocates due to her impressive accomplishments locally; which furthermore, have earned her the respect and recognition of the state office.

Ms. Cargill has been nothing short of exceptional in all areas of the 5-star pillars she created for the organization in the union of for-profit, non-profit, government, academia, and community in Uniondale, N.Y.

She has advocated the interests of the Uniondale community on the federal level to the Regional Office of the Census Bureau concerning the elimination of "East Garden City", on the state level addressing the LI Regional Economic Development Council (LIREDC) and the Regional Plan Association (RPA) on the issues of hamlets, challenged Nassau County on Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) "Good Faith Efforts" policy, petitioned the Town of Hempstead for infrastructure and service improvements to the downtown area, collaborates with Hofstra University on business education and internship opportunities, actively works with Civic Associations and developers to ensure community participation while completely restructuring and re-launching the Uniondale Chamber of Commerce increasing membership 360% in her first year as president.

In light of all her extraordinary work, Ms. Cargill nonetheless purports that, “Small businesses are only as strong as the communities we are located in. If we raise the level of pride in a community through business leadership, we raise the quality of services, industry development, education, public perception, and government attention the area receives as a whole. Small businesses are the backbone and foundation of the communities we serve, and we have the strength and power to also protect them.”

Ms. Cargill's accomplishments in 2016 are truly applauded and recognized, and all look forward to watching her in 2017. Uniondale is a diverse hamlet of the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, Long Island and she is a champion who brings great pride and distinction to the majority minority community.
