
The regular meeting open to the public included an overview of the 2016 State of the State by Lieut. Gov. Kathleen Hochul, NYS Broadband Initiative, LI BIO (new committee fostering advancement in our designated cluster of "Bio-Technology", LIRR Third Track, and the NYS Mentoring Program. While Ryan Silva covered the Consolidated Funding Application Process and expectations for Round VI, he announced the category of "Downtown Revitalization" which is of top-priority to Uniondale. The Uniondale community had a contingency that included representatives from Nostrand Gardens Civic Association, Uniondale Community Council, Uniondale Community Land Trust, Uniondale School District, and the Uniondale Chamber of Commerce symbolizing a united front for our advancement. The President of NGCA, Pearl Jacobs, and President of the Chamber, Margo K. Cargill, both made public statements of the need for investment in not just large development projects but into the core infrastructure of communities.
