Nassau County Executive backs Uniondale in Developer Talks

Long awaited discussions resumed between developers of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Forest City Ratner Co.) and Uniondale stakeholders. Facilitated by the Office of County Executive, the group including County Exec. Ed. Mangano, key county reps. Philip Elliott and Ed Ward, developer spokesperson Ashley Cotton, National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University Exec. Dean Larry Levy, and a host of Uniondale organizations' representatives engaged in positive planning for next steps of how they will be working together for the advancement of the local community and Nassau County. Plans for a pre-workforce readiness program and facility, as well as local business partnership programs (i.e. Taste of Long Island) and MWBE contract opportunities were top of the agenda. In the coming months the committee will meet to ensure all parties concerns and needs are addressed and met with productive solutions.
